Amber Baillie
3D Artist, Rigger & Animator
I'm a fourth-year student of BA (hons) Computer Arts specialising in 3D character art.
I most enjoy creating organic forms through sculpting, especially characters and creatures. But I'm also able to work from a modelling approach where needed.

A Wee Bit About Me
I'm a BA Computer Arts Student who specialised on the 3D Production track during my third year. I'm versed in creating characters, creatures and props for games using industry standard software.
Outside of creating games, I enjoy playing D&D weekly, regularly play video games with friends, and working on comics in my spare time. I'm also an avid aquarist, keeping critters ranging from my little African dwarf frogs, to verious tetras, to the recent addition of a red-shoulder manacapuru angelfish named Bertie. Another one of my favourite things is wild camping.
P.S. Here are my cats, Tigger (the Tabby) and wee Jett!

Tools & Software
My go-to software for 3D work is Blender, and I've mostly used Maya for UV's, Rigging and Animation across projects so far. For sketching and smaller practice projects, I'll use either nomad sculpt or blender. While Unreal Engine is the game engine I'm most familiar working with.

Unreal Engine 4 and 5, Unity, Godot.
Github, Mercurial, Perforce.
Autodesk Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance Painter & Marmoset Toolbag.
PureRef, Visref, Miro.
Nomad Sculpt, CozyBlanket & Procreate.
Trello, Jira, Hack n Slash, Asana, Click Up.

G Suite, Confluence, Miro, FigJam.
Teams, Discord, Slack.

Murder on the Grass Floor. For this miltidicipline project, I was the 3D Character and Creature Artist, alongside this I rigged and animated all of the creatures and the player charcter. I was one of the concept designers earlier on in the project. Overall, I created the playable charcter, enemy creatures and some props for the game.
Exposure. I was a concept designer and character artist for this game project. I also worked to rig and animate the player arm model.
European First Year Experience Project. I worked as a freelance illustrator in collaboration with Charlotte Wilkinson to create a bi-fold illustrative map and leaflet for the EFYE conference held at Abertay University in 2023. I designed and illustrated characters and creatures from Scottish history and folklore for the leaflet/map.

I specialised in 3D Production Methods, with a focus on creating characters, creatures and props as assets for games using industry standard software (ZBrush, Maya & Substance Painter). Alongside delving into 3D Rigging and Animation workflows.
Completing regular illustration tasks with short turn-around times while I experiment with different media and techniques, working with industry standard software and for clients on real world briefs.
Exploring a large variety of mediums from sculpture and fine arts to digital animation. Regular life drawing sessions alongside critical studies, developing a foundational skill set to take forward in my artistic journey among a large cohort of over 100 peers.
